Installation & Troubleshooting
My mod isn't working! Engrams are missing or my AA structures have disappeared.
This is a very common issue caused by a corrupted or failed mod installation, especially after a game update. It is not a bug with the mod itself, but with how the game and CurseForge handle mod delivery.
The Fix: You must perform a full, clean reinstallation of the mod. It's crucial to follow the instructions for your specific platform (PC, Xbox, or PS5) exactly as described. This process may need to be repeated more than once to work.
Lost Items: If your structures disappeared, the only way to recover them and their contents is to restore a server backup from before the issue occurred. Always make regular backups, especially when using mods.
For detailed instructions, see the official Mod Reinstall Guide: blitzfire.games/modfix.
I'm trying to place an AA item. The placement outline is green, but it disappears when I click.
This is another symptom of a failed or corrupt mod installation. The game is failing to load essential mod data, which prevents it from placing the structure.
The Fix: A proper, clean reinstall of the mod is the only solution. Follow the detailed steps for your platform at blitzfire.games/modfix.
My game crashes when I load it with this mod installed.
Game crashes related to a mod are typically due to corrupted files. This has become more common since the game's 5.5 update.
The Fix: Follow the mod reinstall instructions. For console players, this often involves clearing the cache and reserved space. On PC, you must delete the mod files from the directory to ensure a fresh download. If the issue persists after multiple attempts, you may need to reinstall the entire game.
My inventory looks empty after using the AA Smithy or other AA containers.
This is a known base game bug and is not caused by Automated Ark. It can happen with any container, not just AA structures.
The Fix: The only current fixes are to relog into the server or die and respawn.
Do I need other mods for this to work? Does it conflict with other mods?
No, Automated Ark does not require any other mods to function. It is designed to be compatible with other mods, but conflicts can still happen.
- Stack Mods: These are the most common cause of issues, particularly with sorting and crafting. It is strongly recommended to use `.ini` settings to adjust stack sizes instead of using a stack mod.
- Other Mods: Most other mods, like Super Spyglass, structure mods, and dino mods, should work fine. If a modded structure isn't working with the AA system, it may be because it's not correctly based on a vanilla structure.
Sorting & The Pulling System
How do I stop the console from pulling items from a specific container (like a Beer Barrel or another mod's storage)?
You should not use the "Exclude" list in the console menu, as it can cause issues, especially with other mods.
The Correct Method: Rename the container or dino you want to exclude.
- On **PC**, add a `*` or `~` to its name.
- On **Console** (Xbox/PS5), add `AAxP` to its name.
If a structure cannot be renamed by default (like a Beer Barrel), use the **AA Helper Remote**. Equip it, cycle its modes (default 'F' key on PC) to "Add Rename," and use it on the structure. This will add the rename option to that structure's radial menu.
The console is only sorting one item at a time from a stack.
This is almost always caused by a **Stack Mod** or an abnormally large stack size multiplier in your `.ini` files. The stack mod alters the item data in a way that interferes with the sorting logic.
The Fix: The best solution is to remove the stack mod and use the game's built-in `.ini` settings to control stack sizes. Be aware that removing the mod will delete any items stacked beyond the vanilla limit.
How do I automate harvesting from crop plots?
The AA Control Console will automatically pull harvested crops from any nearby crop plots (vanilla or modded) during a sort cycle.
Setup: Simply set up an OCD storage container (like an AA Fridge or Veggie Crate) and add the specific crops you want to be stored there to its OCD list. The console will handle the rest. Crop plots do not and will not appear in the console's "Exclude" list, as you never want to exclude them from being pulled from.
Does Automated Ark work with Tek Dedicated Storage?
Yes! As of a recent update, the AA Control Console will automatically sort resources into nearby Tek Dedicated Storage units. It will prioritize sending resources to a dedicated storage unit before using an OCD Vault for the same item. This works with vanilla dedicated storage and should work with modded versions if they are based on the vanilla one.
Can I extend the AA Control Console's range or link multiple consoles together?
No, you cannot extend the range of a single console or chain them together. This is intentional to prevent performance issues and potential duping exploits. If you have a separate base area outside the first console's range, you can place a second, independent console there to manage that area.
Why isn't auto-sort working when I'm away from my base?
ARK puts structures into "stasis" when no players are nearby to save server resources. When the AA Control Console is in stasis, its internal timers are paused. Auto-sorting will only resume when a player renders the console again.
Crafting & Stations
How does the "Pull Resources" button work in AA crafting stations?
The pull system is designed to make crafting easier by moving materials directly into the station you're using. You need an AA Control Console nearby for this to function.
How to Use:
- First, **click on the engram** you want to craft. You may need to click it twice.
- Set the **quantity** of the item you wish to craft.
- Click the **"Pull Resources"** button. The system will pull the exact amount of materials needed for the specified quantity from your AA storage network.
My AA Grinder isn't returning any resources.
This is a known issue that has been reported, particularly on the Ragnarok map.
The Workaround: An admin needs to open the in-game AA settings menu. Go to the Grinder Return % setting, change it to a different value, close the menu, and then change it back to the desired value (e.g., 25%). This has been shown to fix the issue temporarily.
The AA Industrial Cooker says it doesn't need water, but it's not working.
The in-game description is incorrect and is a leftover from the Ark: Survival Evolved version of the mod. In Ark: Survival Ascended, the cooker does require irrigation. You can irrigate it with a standard water pipe or by placing an AA Gardening Station nearby.
Can AA items be placed on platform saddles, rafts, or airships?
Yes, but you may need to enable an override in your server's `.ini` settings to allow it. However, there is a long-standing visual bug where some AA structures (like OCD vaults and fridges) will resize to their massive vanilla counterparts after a server restart or relog when placed on a platform. This is a base game issue that repeatedly breaks with updates, and currently, there is no permanent fix.
Specific Items & Features
How does the Imprint Kibble work?
The Imprint Kibble is crafted in the AA Gardening Station. When you **force-feed** it to a baby dino, it will instantly grant a percentage of imprint and a boost to maturation speed.
- The amount of imprint % and the growth speed multiplier are set by an admin in the in-game AA settings menu.
- After feeding, the imprint may not visually update immediately. You may need to leave the area and return, or cryo and uncryo the dino for the new percentage to display correctly.
My Egg Crate isn't picking up fertilized eggs.
This is an intentional feature. If you have an active **AA Air Conditioner** nearby, it will prevent the Egg Crate from picking up fertilized eggs in its range. This is to stop eggs from being collected while you are trying to incubate them. To allow pickup, you must turn the AA AC unit off.
How do I access the AA settings menu or use `.ini` codes?
You can configure many aspects of the mod in two ways:
- In-Game Menu: If you are a server admin, you can access a settings menu by clicking the "AA" button in the bottom-right of your inventory screen. If the button is missing, dying and respawning or fast-traveling will usually make it reappear. You must be in admin/cheat mode to make changes.
- GameUserSettings.ini: For persistent settings, you can add configuration lines to your server's `GameUserSettings.ini` file. A full list of available settings can be found on the official website: blitzfire.games/gameusersettings.
