Installation & Compatibility
Can I use this mod with other mods (like stack mods, dino mods, or QoL mods)?
No. Ark Medieval: Guilds & Goblins is a **Total Conversion** mod. This means it fundamentally changes core game mechanics, engrams, and resources. It is designed and balanced to be played on its own.
Using other mods, especially stack mods or any that add/change engrams (like Auto Engrams), will cause major conflicts, break progression, and is **not supported**.
Dino mods may work, but you will likely be unable to craft their saddles. Using any other mod is at your own risk.
The mod isn't installing, or it says "incompatible". How do I fix it?
This is a common issue with the game's mod delivery system, not the mod itself. Corrupt files during download can prevent the mod from working correctly.
The Fix: You need to perform a clean reinstallation. This often requires more than just uninstalling from the in-game menu. For consoles, it involves clearing saved data and reserved space. For PC, you must manually delete the mod folder to ensure a fresh download.
For detailed, platform-specific instructions, visit the official guide: blitzfire.games/modfix.
Does everyone on a server need to buy the mod?
Yes. Since it is a total conversion, every player who wants to join a server running the mod must own it.
What maps work best with this mod?
The mod will work on any map, but it is best suited for maps that do not rely on Tek or advanced resources. **Ragnarok** is highly recommended by the community and developers. Maps like Aberration and Extinction are not recommended as key features of those maps are inaccessible without Tek.
Goblins & Automation
How do I get goblins?
You cannot tame goblins in the wild. You must first craft and place the **Logistics Goblin Hut**. A Logistics Goblin will spawn, and you can trade with him for gold coins. Then, use the radial menu on that same Logistics Goblin to hire other goblin types (like Farmer, Tinker, Grunt) using the gold coins.
My Farmer Goblins aren't doing anything! How do they work?
The Farmer Goblin system has been updated and is now automated. The old radial wheel with individual tasks is gone.
New System:
- Place a **Farmer Goblin Manager Flag**.
- Place your Farmer Goblins within the flag's range.
- Approach each Farmer Goblin and use its radial menu to select **"Enable Farming"**.
- Ensure you have the necessary structures nearby: Compost Bin, Fertilizer Silo, Ice Box, and crop plots.
The flag now handles all tasks automatically. The goblins' animations are purely visual; what they are *doing* doesn't matter. The speed of the automation depends on the number of farmers assigned to a flag (max 20). One farmer works very slowly (approx. 1 action per hour), while 20 farmers work very quickly (approx. 1 action every 5 minutes).
How do I get my goblins to work at crafting stations?
Most crafting stations in this mod require a specific goblin to function. For example, the Striker's Forge requires a Tinker Goblin.
To assign one, get the correct goblin to follow you close to the workstation. Then, access the workstation's radial menu and select the "Assign Goblin" option. A beam will appear; aim it at the goblin until it turns green and wait for a few seconds. The goblin will automatically be attached to the station.
I can't find any Goblin Camps!
Goblin camps are designed to spawn randomly. There is a **chance** for one to spawn every 10 minutes within a 100-foundation radius of an active player. They can be very well hidden and will despawn on a server restart or when you quit a single-player game.
Important Bug Info: The current goblin camp system is known to be bugged. The loot cache from the chest often falls through the map or becomes inaccessible. The entire system is being completely reworked for a future update into a much larger, more dynamic system of goblin camps and villages.
Crafting & Resources
Where do I craft [X] item? (Nails, Gunpowder, Leather Strips, etc.)
Forget everything you know about vanilla Ark crafting! This mod has a completely new progression system. If you can't craft something you need, it's almost certainly because you haven't unlocked or built the next tier of workstation for that material type (wood, stone, metal, leather, etc.).
- Nails: Crafted in the Siamon's Foundry (the second forge).
- Gunpowder: Crafted in the Ramshackle Pyro Station.
- Large Leather Strips: Crafted in the Leather Trimming Station.
- Cementing Paste: This is a late-game item crafted in the Alchemy Station. You can also get it from beaver dams.
- Steel Ingots: Crafted in the Blast Furnace, a very high-level forge.
How do I get Clay and Sand?
Clay: Use a shovel at the edge of a body of water.
Sand: Use the Pulverizer station.
How do I craft items that used to be made in a Smithy (like saddles)?
The vanilla Smithy is replaced. Items that required a Smithy are now crafted in various medieval stations depending on their tier. Most saddles are crafted in the **Craftsman's Table** or the higher-tier **Craftsman's Cradle**. For vanilla items from other mods, you can use the inventory of a tamed **Argentavis** or **Castoroides (Beaver)** as a mobile smithy.
Bone Piles aren't spawning when I kill creatures.
This is a known bug where the "buff" that enables bone pile drops stops working. The simple fix is to **die and respawn**. This will reapply the buff to your character and bone piles should start dropping again.
Gameplay & Features
Is there any equivalent to Tek, Element, or advanced items?
No. This is a primitive/medieval overhaul. All Tek, Element, electronics, fabricators, and firearms are removed or replaced. You can still fight the bosses, but you will not receive Tek engrams or Element.
Are Kibble and Dyes available in the mod?
Currently, Kibble and Dyes are not craftable in the mod. This is a known missing feature that is planned to be added in a future update.
How do I survive underwater or in hazardous areas without Scuba or Hazmat?
For underwater exploration, you can tame a **Diplocaulus**, which acts as a living oxygen tank when ridden. Medieval-themed versions of the Gas Mask, Scuba, and Rad Suit are planned for a future update, but are not in the game yet.
Where can I find the admin commands or settings?
Admin Commands: A full list of spawn codes and cheat commands can be found at blitzfire.games/medieval-spawn-codes.
In-Game Settings: As a server admin, if you access the radial menu of any medieval crafting station, there will be an "Admin Options" button that opens the mod's configuration menu.
